We are a team of dedicated change-makers committed to empowering marginalized communities, promotes equality, and fosters a brighter, more inclusive future for all.
Humanist Watch Salone (HUWASAL) is a human rights and development-based organization committed to empowering marginalized groups, including women, youth, children, and persons with different abilities to determine their own choices, and their rights to influence social change. Established in 2003 and registered in Sierra Leone as a Private Company Limited by Guarantee, HUWASAL explored multisectorial approach in ensuring realization of fundament human rights of everyone and the full potential of communities to influence change that allow inclusiveness of the less privileged voices in decision making and development discourse . The organization focuses on human rights, governance, community health, and child protection, working through grassroots initiatives to promote equality and sustainable development for all.
Governed by a seven-member advisory board, HUWASAL partners with local and international organizations to drive impactful community projects. Its work promotes gender equality, good governance and human rights, violence prevention, responsible land governance and investment, environmental and climate justice, community health and sanitation, child protection and development, peace building and inclusive development. HUWASAL is dedicated to improving lives through advocacy and empowerment. Together, we believe that every helping hand can uplift marginalized communities and shape a better future for all.



Titus Sei Massally
FOUNDERTitus Sei Massally- a native of Kailahun District is one key founder of Humanist Watch Salone (HUWASAL) and served as the first National Coordinator from 2003 to 2013. As a social activist, he worked tirelessly within his life time to bring about social, political and economic change more especially advocating for marginalized groups and/or changing existing societal norms that undermine and/or enforce gender disparity. He was a powerful force in bringing about change in the society and uses his energy to encourage others to drive positive social change for the benefit of all. He left the world in 2013 with no gap behind as there exist a team with the value, passion and work ethic to progressively continue the mission to actualize the dream of HUWASAL.
Christopher Morie Briama
NATIONAL COORDINATORChristopher Morie Briama – a native of Kailahun District, Eastern Province of Sierra Leone is a foundation member of Humanist Watch Salone (HUWASAL) – the first Programme Manager and second National Coordinator from 2013 to present after the demised of Titus Sei Massally. As a social activist, Christopher has actively participated in various social reform movements including those related to child rights, women’s suffrage, responsible land governance and investment and environmental justice. Christopher’s work had a profound impact on social welfare, women’s rights, child rights, land governance and right to food. His unwavering dedication to social justice and commitment to improving the lives of deprived individuals is pivotal to addressing social inequalities and work towards a more just and peaceful society.
